Do you ever have days where you just feel badass? You know, when you turn the music up in your car a little louder, opt for heels instead of flats, or go for black eyeliner instead of your basic brown? There’s a new makeup brand called Ardency Inn that was designed for the badass in all of us, no matter if your badass is more Michael Buble than Sex Pistols. Women’s Wear Daily just named the brand Newcomer of the Year for 2013! That’s a pretty badass achievement.
Ardency Inn is inspired by New York City’s urban vibrancy and music scene. What’s badder than that? You’re probably going, wait I’m a stay-at-home-mom, I’ll totally end up like this…

Well I say throw a moto jacket and boots on her and I guarantee no one will tell her she can’t volunteer for the PTO Bake Sale at her kid’s school. I also guarantee her husband will do the dishes that night, and then some. But if you prefer to wear a more subtle look, don’t worry, you’re not excluded from using this new badass brand. Ardency Inn has 3 collections in its line;
Modster- upbeat colors inspired by the mod subculture of high fashion and all-night clubs.
Punker- edgy blacks inspired by the darkly rimmed eyes and fierce attitude of punk rockers.
Americana- natural tones inspired by the multicultural heritage and effortless beauty of downtown New York .
Each product is innovatively designed to provide long-wearing color payoff with ease of application. We had the chance to try a few products and are falling hard like Penny Lane and the Band-Aids.
From the Punker collection, Eyes Like Fire shadow is a highly pigmented, waterproof cream shadow pen with an integrated brush applicator. Yes, a click-pen eye shadow. In black. Don’t stop reading. Remember when I said that the products are designed for easy application? I really thought this was going to be a bust but I was wrong. The product is dispersed through the brush with a few clicks and goes on so smoothly. What I really love is that the product doesn’t set to dry too fast so that you can’t go back and blend it. I’ve found cream shadows hard to work with because of their really quick dry time. I applied the black cream shadow all over my lid, stopping just below the crease and slightly winging it up and out, then on along my lower lash line. I usually really suck at doing any type of winged liner but using a shadow on my lid to create that shape was almost foolproof. Then I went back with a black liner and followed the shape on just my lash line. To soften the look without losing the drama, I blended a soft, matte brown shadow (Urban Decay Buck to be exact) into the crease. It was the easiest smoky eye ever.

Still feel like it’s too intimidating? Ardency Inn has an artistry section on their site (click here for it) that shows you exactly how to get different looks, all the way from total badass to just badass enough. Here’s one of their looks that was kind of similar to what I tried:

Now that I’ve tried this new way of using a cream shadow, it would take more than a tour bus ride with Humble Pie and a case of Heineken for a trade.
Eyes Like Fire retails for $21.00.
Ardency Inn is available on their e-store and at Sephora. I know what I’ll be buying with my gift cards this holiday!
